Major Scenic Point:
(1) KL Butterfly Park
Only a stone's throw from the Bird Park is the colourful and beautifully landscaped Butterly Park where over 6,000 butterflies from 120 species roam and fly freely in a simulated natural rainforest environment. Here you can learn about the life cycle and mating habit of the butterflies. There is a nursery and breeding area, as well as an insect museum to enhance your knowledge about these creepy-crawlers. Comprising the beautiful landscape are flower and fruit plants and some rare herbs essential in the diet and pollinating activities of the butterflies.

(2) KL Bird Park
The Bird Park is a part of an area called the Lake Gardens. These serene and scenic Lake Gardens (60-hectare) were established in the year1888 and form the green belt of Kuala Lumpur. The lake is an artificial lake. Visitors can take a leisurely boat cruise to enjoy views of the gardens from the water. Visitors will enjoy strolling through the park along a maze of walkways, amidst greenery. Scenic rest stops for picnics are scattered throughout the park. There is a children's playground, jogging tracks, exercise stations, and rowing boats. The gardens incorporate the National Monument, Butterfly House, Bird Park, Orchid and Hibiscus gardens, with the former Malaysia’s Parliament House situated at the northern end. |
|
(3) KL Orchid Garden
Situated beside the Butterfly Park, within the Lake Garden vicinity, the Orchid Garden houses about 3,000 orchid species from around the world, with 800 species from Malaysia alone. An adjoining section is devoted to the hibiscus, Malaysia's national flower. This section showcases more than 2,000 varieties of hibiscuses. It is common for the occupants of the nearby Butterfly Park to visit these gardens, creating a more lively atmosphere. The Garden is transformed into a bazaar during weekends where both the orchid and the hibiscus are on sale.

(4) Thean Hou Temple
The temple has four levels. The lowest level houses the nursery, souvenir shops and food court while the first floor is the main hall where cultural and religious activities are held. On the second level, one can find the marriage registration office and resource centre. The main temple shrine is located on the third floor. Upon reaching the temple shrine, one will be amazed by the dragon-inspired columns and pagoda rooftops. It is also a perfect place to relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the temple set against the Kuala Lumpur skyline. |
